REFILL MY COFFEE BUCKET PLEASE - 8.21.25

Dear melon-ballers, neapolitan scoopers, and pb spooners,

Another morning where a bucket of coffee sits on my desk and I dunk my head in it and make bubbles to wake up and by jove it is working.  I pledge to get more exercise today, eat earlier, and go to bed at 10:00.  This is called regulation, in adult terms, also post-vacation adjustment.

Questions:

  • how to elegantly shelve the cds that I want to keep?

  • what the best portable digital mp3/wave player

  • why does stuff pile up?

  • why is the sky blue?

I read some disturbing stuff on Facebook this morning while coffee was brewing, when I could have been doing jumping jacks or reading The Constitution or learning how to play “Sonic Reducer.”

Should Bookface be anything more than a friendly communication tool between people who know each other? I would really miss Steve Bouton’s music posts and…what else?

Family and friends’ posts.  OK, OK, satirical Cracker Barrel logos are really fun.  And Amazon adds for backpacks, pencil storage, and loud shirts are ok.  But using social media to keep a finger on some kind of pulse is to keep one foot in a gutter of bad news.  The human nervous system and human soul is not of infinite capacity for mind junk or high-alert states.  It really isn’t fit to cope with AI, “targeted content” and the posts of folks who support rebooting Maoism in the smoking wreckage of the Republican Party.  Our culture is very ill right now.

I ordered that New Christs double comp last night.  I think that’s my first record purchase this month.  Wait, Cleo bought me the third Saints record too, and I spent about 30 bucks on Bandcamp Friday.  It is about time to book a DJ night, I really miss that!
