KCMO

Dear bongo boppers, vibra-slappers and conga droppers,

totally neatnik garden

Please send coffee.  It is early and I am still in REM sleep, with my shirt on backwards.  I almost noted the date 2028.  Maybe I was hoping we’d have a presidential election in a couple of months, rather than years from now.

I listened to another library cd yesterday, a John Adams collection including Shaker Loops and 3 other pieces.  I really dig this music--I used to have a cassette of Shaker Loops, in college.  At that time it was pretty edgy but now it is canonical, you might say.

I also took a long walk and listened to the first two Lurkers records.  The warts are there, the beginner’s mind, the playing is intense but not perfect, and I like it.  Another rec from Stay Fanatic! Volume 1.  Jeffro Skull has alerted me to a New Christs compilation that Green Noise is distributing online.  Today is pay day--what the harm in grabbing a record? Jeez.  I used to spend twice as much on 9% beer every month as I do on records now.

I haven’t seen any rabbits lately on my walks--a couple months ago I’d see 10 or 12 sometimes.  We have hawks and owls  in our neighborhood who are probably taking care of business, doing what comes natural when Aldi isn’t an option.

I hope our deck continues to be bunny HQ--I like seeing them coming and going from under there.  I want to cut a hole in the deck with a multi-tool to make a carrot drive-in with signage and a canopy.  Lettuce, kale, mustard and chard, green onions, parsley, and so much more.

I saw a full-sized raccoon in broad daylight down the street.  It spooked and ran back under a tree at the back of a lot.  I’m more in tune with animal life than I used to be.  Wild things in tame places. There’s a thicket around the corner. I’m pro-thicket. Every block should have a thicket. Even better, a ravine.
