9.13.25 - DON’T VOLUNTEER TO GET LOST IN THE LOCUST PLAGUE, PEOPLE

Saturday 9.13.25

KCMO

Dear shrink-wrap rippers, CD keepers, and 4-track trippers,

Saturday morning, and I am well rested after a pretty early night, reading Jean Giono’s The Open Road. It took a few pages for me to give myself over to it, nothing about the book itself, more that I have been captured online by the aftermath of the murder of Charlie Kirk, and sickened by the whole thing.

Once you allow your brain to be swarmed by the Biblical locust plague of online discourse, focus has to be recovered. Tie a rope from the outhouse to the back porch so you can find your way back.

Yesterday I listened to Minibeast’s The Maze of Now and Ed Kuepper’s Black Ticket Days (again). Minibeast has a tour this fall. I’d love to see one of those shows. Peter Prescott is one of my favorite artists. His rock and roll holler is the call to action I need, if only I knew what the action needed to be.
