9.10.25 - HABANERO HOME STRETCH
9.10.25
Dear voters, tax payers, and slow drivers,
…Pen won’t move—wait, ok, there we go, it is making scratchy sounds.
Fall weather has been great, but I think it is heating up again this week—our habanero bush will soak it up, and the roma plant has responded to a trimming, with a late batch coming on. I like having a bed at the neighborhood garden, sharing that experience with 10 or 12 others, even if I don’t see them much, feels good.
I checked out Les Amazones d’Afrique Amazones Power cd from the KC Plaza library, on the Real World label. It’s pumped up afro-pop with hip hop and pop elements, definitely feel the dance floor moving while I drive my 2013 Honda Fit to work. The band is more of a fluid supergroup with a super producer, Dr L, and advocates for global women’s health and social justice. It’s warrior music for the dance floor, groove first, ideas second. It’s on Bandcamp and whatnot but I wouldn’t have found it without the curation of a music librarian, leaving easter eggs on the shelves for all of us.
So much music, so little time. I’ve been mulling over an MPR/WAV player—what to get. It could come in handy and reduce streaming time on the pocket Babel Tower/dystopian surveillance device/phone.
