JOY

Rich Wheeler and Bill Guilfoyle sat in with Squids last night and we started the set with “Joy” from my 2003 album One Man Submarine. It kind of levitated, and I was the only one who knew the song. Here’s to making it new.

I'm letting joy in
I can't live this way no more
I'm letting joy in
without her shoes
she stands ten foot four

I'm letting joy in
without it you're a half grown thing
I'm letting joy in
sometimes it's just like suffering

Let's have a pizza
let's take the long way to the park
let's have a future
I'm walking home upside down in the dark

I'm letting joy in
I'm going to the record store
I'm letting joy in
I cannot even tell you what for
can't tell you what for

I don't wanna take no guff
I just want enough
what's the point of pushing
when things get whacked out and rough
whacked out and rough

I'm letting joy in
I can't live this way no more
I'm letting joy in
my heart feels just like a record store
