Dear malcontents, misfits, and motherless runts,
I broke the habit of looking at my phone first thing this morning, and scribbled a few things in my bullet journal instead. Mike Watt calls them leashes. That’s a good word for them.
A good practice could be to have one place for them in the home, like a wall phone. Kids may not understand the solidity of a bulbous desk or wall phone that you can pick up, or not pick up.
Overall these devices are tools for the practical and positive, and you know the rest.
I took a coma nap yesterday and couldn’t talk clearly until I had a Nespresso, but after that I cleaned two bathrooms and took a long walk. Evening exercise and sleep go together like garlic and olive oil.
My housecleaning music was Yasmine Hamdan, Molchat Doma, and Bitchin’ Bajas. I’ve also listened to the Molly Nilsson record Amateur every day lately, the last 4 tracks are like a killer EP of super great, after already great tracks leading up to them.
For Shocktober I am reading Ghost Radio by Leopold Gout, and I’m listening to Witchcraft For Wayward Girls by Grady Hendrix. The narration is difficult but I enjoy his books so I’ll survive.
