Dear Empanada Eviscerators, Calzone Killers, and Pastie Punishers,

This morning I started out with the unhealthy choice of looking at social media while the coffee brewed, first thing in the AM. It took some energy I had waking up and scattered it. But a few deep breaths & one fuck-it later, I am here, putting pen to paper. A pocket computer is a tool like a knife, we can use it for the good, to make dinner or stay in touch, or hurt ourselves with it.

And then you’re idly scrolling and Johnny Cash shows up. What are you gonna do?

Last night we played with Arthur Dodge & The Horsefeathers at Hillsiders in KCK, one of the greatest dive bar music venues of all time, and kitty-corner from Breit’s, whose sandwiches demand to be eaten BEFORE you play, even though eating before you play is never a great idea.

Arthur Dodge was great, they had this 2-guitar weave that made excellent songs even better. The show was a matinee and the crowd was engaged and supportive and OLD! People in their 50’s need walkers and velcro shoes at rock shows, I worry about us. Beautiful late fall weather, a special night all around.

The Brewers advanced to the NLCS. I am always happy for the Cubs but I was really excited for the Brewers. This puts my pal Bill K on cloud 9, which makes it even better.
